  • All Saints Marsh C of E Academy Pupils Light Up Newton Abbot Lantern Parade with Fairy Tale Magic

Newton Abbot, 10 December 2025 – Pupils from All Saints Marsh Church of England Academy brought festive magic to the streets of Newton Abbot last night as they proudly took part in the town’s spectacular Lantern Parade, one of the area’s most striking winter traditions.

This year’s theme, “A Fairy Tale of Newton Abbot”, transformed the town centre into a glowing wonderland of enchanting characters. From the Big Bad Wolf and the Gingerbread Man to a genie in a bottle, the parade was a dazzling display of creativity and colour. All Saints Marsh pupils embraced the theme by becoming gnomes, and their lanterns looked absolutely fantastic as they joined the procession.

A spokesperson for the event organisers said:
“The illuminations the children make are fantastic. Every year the parade is full of colour and movement, and the streets are lined with people enjoying the atmosphere. It’s always a great moment for the town.”

The Lantern Parade is more than just a visual spectacle—it gives young people “a chance to be creative, to learn new skills, and to see their work celebrated in a big community event.”

Special thanks go to the PTFA, who generously funded Templar Class to take part in the lantern-making workshop, helping pupils bring their fairy tale ideas to life.

    Headteacher Liam O’Sullivan added:
“We are incredibly proud of our pupils for their enthusiasm and imagination. The Lantern Parade is a wonderful tradition that brings our community together, and it’s magical to see the children’s creations lighting up the town. A huge thank you to our PTFA for making this experience possible for Templar Class.”
